Come with us as we explore the charm of Wells, Somerset, England. Named as one of the best places to take a short break, It is the second smallest city in England (behind the city of London) with a population of around 12,000. We visit the awe inspiring Wells Cathedral, an ancient well, the Bishops Palace and Vicars Close - the oldest street in Europe. This historic city is a must-visit destination for history buffs and architecture lovers alike!

The city of Wells is located in Somerset on the edge of the Mendip hills. A favourite location for Hollywood film and TV producers it has been named as the UK’s favourite destination in a survey of inland towns and villages by “Which” magazine. Featured in the film Hot fuzz, Wolf Hall and more recently Dungeons and dragons - see if you can recognise any filming locations around the city and Cathdral.

The city gets its name from 3 wells dedicated to Saint Andrew. 2 that originate on the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace and one in the marketplace. The city’s mediaeval alleyways are home to ancient, unaltered structures, and the High Street’s water supply, which the bishop gave to the town in 1451, still gurgles down its sides.

The beautiful county of Somerset is, in my opinion underrated and many people just pass through to more well known places like the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall but it has so much on offer. Watch this space for more videos on Somerset to come ☺️
