Did you know, St. Peter’s Church in Antioch is the place where apostles St. Peter and St. Barnabas, made the first preaching to the Christian community in the city, and where the first baptism ceremony was held?

The congregation gathered in the cave-church was first time named “Christian” here.

Christianity emerged in the first half of the 1st century AD, and spread for the first time in Antioch, I mean outside of Jerusalem.

St. Peter's Church was declared as a "Place of Pilgrimage" by Pope Paul VI in 1963.

Each year, on June 29, St. Peter's Day, the Catholic Church hold services here.
