Canadian engineer Alfred Horner Munro was tired of the old manual gearbox and the constant struggle with the clutch. His invention wasn’t very practical, but it opened the door for the future. The first truly successful system came in 1939 when General Motors introduced the legendary Hydra-Matic, changing the history of cars forever. From that point on, driving would never be the same!
