Video documentation of the UPLB Museum of Natural History Biodiversity Seminar on "Butterflies and its life histories: New insights on the biogeography of the Philippines" by Dr. Jade Aster T. Badon, Assistant Professor at the Animal Biology Division, Institute of Biological Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Baños last 08 June 2022.

ABSTRACT OF TALK

The Philippines is home to around 927 species of butterflies and one-third of the total number is endemic to the country, but more studies are needed in order to understand its biology. The Philippine Lepidoptera Butterflies and Moths, Inc. (PhiLep) are currently documenting the occurrences and life histories of known and unknown life histories of butterflies nationwide to know its host plant/s preferences, distribution, and the morphology of its egg, larva, pupa, and adult. This talk will compile past and present observations of Philippine butterflies and provide possible new insights on the biogeography Philippine Lepidoptera.
