Cameron Equipment bought two diesel engines from Petroleum Services but left them at a different company for two years. Petroleum Services sold the engines to Power International, who then sold them to American General Transportation Co. Cameron Equipment sued both Petroleum Services and Power International for the return of the engines and damages. The trial court found Petroleum Services liable for conversion but denied Cameron Equipment's claims against the subsequent purchasers. The court ruled that Cameron Equipment never took possession of the engines, so ownership wasn't transferred to them. Cameron Equipment appealed the decision, arguing three main points: ownership, La. Civ. Code art. 518, and Travis Ward's liability.
