Personal opinion:
I always thought this song was a cover of someone else's song,
but even after searching online I couldn't find any clear answers, and I also saw references to it being an original song by Steve and Paul.
So I can't help but think of this song as a message song from Steve and Paul to Johnny Rotten. I don't know if it was just before or after the band broke up, but it sounds like they're singing, "Hey, let's do more together." What do you think?
