How does a 20" Paiste RUDE Ride/Crash compare with some Zildjian cymbals?

Let's compare a Paiste Rude Ride/Crash with a K Zildjian Heavy Ride and a few other Zildjians.

0:04 Paiste RUDE
1:38 K Zildjian Heavy Ride
2:47 Zildjian FX Raw Crash Large Bell
4:10 K Zildjian Ride

I've always been a Zildjian guy. I bought my first Zildjian in the late '70s, and I've never wavered. ...OK, maybe I owned a nice 21" Sabian Dry Ride for about 10 years, but at least it was from the same Zildjian family.

I've never been tempted by Paiste cymbals...except the Rude series. I was intrigued by Stewart Copeland's ride and hi hats in the early 1980s. I loved the sound and the look—that raw-ish, look with an army-like stencil of the RUDE logo. Then I saw that Larry Mullen also used a Rude cymbal as a crash.

Back in the day, I considered buying a Zildjian Impulse cymbal—Zildjian's answer to the Rude series. But when I heard those cymbals, they sounded a little too clangy and raw.

Well, thanks to Cymbal Swap (https://cymbalswap.com), I was finally able to try out a Rude, briefly, without committing. They had a Ride/Crash for rental, and I rented it this week.

The verdict? I like it. Lots of definition. And because it's also a crash, it's not too raw and metallic. There's actually a bit of a wash.

How does it compare to a few Zildjians? In my opinion...

K Zildjian Heavy Ride: More definition, less wash (really no wash). But a little pingy compared to the slightly mellower tone of the Rude.

Zildjian FX Large Bell Raw Crash: Extreme definition as a ride. Very trashy crash. Doesn't really compare to the Rude. But I could see using it in similar situations.

K Zildjian Ride: This might actually be the closest to the Rude Ride/Crash. Nice definition but a fair amount of washiness if necessary. Pitched a little higher than the Rude.

What do you think? Are you into Rude cymbals?
