Usually found in large corporates or mid-sized firms, this role teaches you how businesses manage budgets, cash flows, and capital allocation. Tip 1 : focus on Excel and financial modelling basics before applying — recruiters love candidates who can already handle a P&L or forecast.

Boutique Investment Banks

Boutiques are gold for freshers because they often give you real work instead of coffee runs. Expect to help with valuation models, pitchbooks, and maybe client decks. Tip 2 : apply cold via LinkedIn or email — many don’t post internships online but still hire hungry juniors.

Big 4 Deals (Transaction ServTices / Valuations)

These teams sit between consulting and banking, and you’ll get exposure to M&A due diligence and valuations. It’s a perfect entry point if you want to pivot later into IB. Tip 3 : network with alumni inside the firm — referrals dramatically increase your odds of being noticed.

Wealth Management

A great option if you want client exposure early. You’ll learn how to build portfolios, track markets, and understand investor psychology. Tip 4 : even if you don’t stay in WM, it gives you strong market knowledge you can leverage in sales & trading interviews later.

Middle Office in Banks

Think risk management, trade support, or product control. These roles put you close to the trading floor and give you credibility for a future move into front office. Tip 5 : use the internship to network internally — many front-office moves start with strong MO interns who proved they understand the products.
