The government needs to revisit taxation of the country’s digital economy. This was one of the proposals from tax experts participating in pre-budget hearing session organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs. Leonard Wanyama from the East Africa Tax and Governance Network, says there are currently numerous businesses in the country plying their trade using the online platform. However tax authorities in the country are yet to draft modalities of how to tax transactions in the digital economy. The forum runs for two days and involves players from the energy, transport and health sector giving various proposals.
