Cantata "Hemmt eure Tränenflut" ("Stop your tears") for four-part choir (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), string instruments and figured bass. Text derives from a cycle of cantata poems published in 1690. At the end of cantata there is an Amen part based on the chorale “Christ lag in Todesbanden”.
Nicolaus Bruhns (1665-1697) was a Danish-German organist, violinist and composer. He was one of the most prominent organists and composers of his generation.
