The US Department of War has released its new National Defence Strategy, naming the protection of US interests across the entire Western Hemisphere as its top priority. According to the updated strategy, the US will no longer cede access or influence over key terrain in the Western Hemisphere — from the Arctic all the way to South America. The newly released US defence strategy frames Russia’s nuclear arsenal as the world’s largest and insists the US must have guaranteed access to Greenland — even as it claims the strategy “is not a strategy of isolation.” Russia is named as a persistent threat to NATO’s eastern flank. Watch.
