Haitian migrants who arrived at the U.S. Texas border, as recent images in the media clearly showed, were inhumanely treated and abused by Border Patrol agents on horseback. Such actions should not only spark our outrage but move us to reflect and act. What is the context and trajectory of Haitian migrants coming to the U.S.-Mexico border? How has U.S. immigration policy being applied to their asylum cases (or not)? Why is the U.S. continuing to turn its back on Haiti? Why has race been dismissed as a key element of immigration policy in the U.S.? What can and should we do to help?
