Calamite | demo tape EP

This is our first recording, which we made at the beginning of 2023.

We are CALAMITE - an independent band from Berlin.

CALAMITE combines pulsating grooves with psychedelic soundscapes producing its very own sound. Characterised by strong basslines and choir backings with French and English lyrics, their music seamlessly fuses elements of Jazz sophistication, Classical impressions and the raw energie of Progressive Rock.
Based on the musical influences of their members, CALAMITE synergistically interweave lyrics and music in their songs and explore musical boundaries across styles, using various effect pedals for flute and main vocals. This eclectic mix results in songs that are both innovative and deeply engaging, taking their listeners on a special musical journey.
Inspired by a longer tour through Senegal in 2022, Paul wrote songs for the freshly formed band CALAMITE in 2023, which they further refined collectively. After their first release ‘demo tape EP’ in May 2024, the second EP ‘basement session - live’ followed in July 2024 as a concert recording with live videos on YouTube. They are currently finishing their first album, which will be released on vinyl in 2025.
