I bring you maple leaf sugar cookies! I'm back for another one of my (now signature??) shapes series! This time it's all about maple leaves! This set is a nod to my Vermont roots 🍁

As always, I had so much fun playing around with different textures and techniques! I must admit this set had more bloopers than usual, but that’s the beauty of this kind of set. I let my imagination run wild, try a whole bunch of different things and only keep the ones that worked out. I love giving myself permission to “fail” ☺️ Which one is your favorite??

This set is a nod to my Vermont roots 🍁 Born and raised in Vermont, I’m a loyal maple syrup lover and feel truly blessed to have seen so many fall foliage seasons in such a beautiful place. When I was really young my family used to make our own maple syrup. Today, I only buy syrup from our neighbors’ sugar farm (either I bring it back to NYC in my luggage or dad ships it…thank goodness for USPS flat rate boxes 😬).

Notes on using the powdered Master Elite colors from The Sugar Art:
Use a vanilla royal icing for the best results (however I used my lemon recipe for this set and it worked just fine!)
Activate with water (use back of spoon/spatula to mix/activate before mixing into the icing)
Use a dropper to add water (not a spray bottle! The color will go everywhere!)
Start with a thicker consistency than you ultimately need (since you’ll be adding water to activate); I started with a stiff peak piping consistency
Color to a couple shades lighter than you ultimately need
Allow the colors to DEVELOP for an least 1 hour (overnight is even better)
Once colored to desired shade, allow to sit for a least 15-30 minutes - sometimes “streaks” will appear in this time if you haven’t incorporated the color well enough at the beginning and then you can give the icing another good mix before using
