In today's episode we will be talking to two famous restaurants in Dubai along with our local hosts turned friends Sachin and Mona. The first one is a Turkish restaurant named Sultan Saray and the second is a Pakistani-Afghani one named Wakha.

Our visit to the stunning Turkish restaurant Sultan Saray introduced us to the fact that how elaborate a Turkish breakfast can be. It's a ritual that brings families and friends together. The massive and colourful breakfast spread consisting of a plethora of breads, dips, spreads, jams, cheese, sweet dishes and some famous traditional breakfast dishes was a matter of sheer amazement.

We began with the cheese platter. The one we liked the most was halloumi cheese in milk. This was followed by some Turkish coffee which is an inevitable part of the Turkish cuisine and culture. Next we tried the variety of breads with an assortment of dips, jams, spreads, olive paste, stuffed olives etc. The favourite among it was sesame seeds encrusted chunks of simit bread. We also had fresh tomatoes loaded with mushy scrambled eggs called menemen. They had also served omelette with spicy sausages called sujuk.

For dessert there was eggplant, orange and fig jam. Kaymak, rice pudding, trilece, Turkish delight and chocolate baklava. The best one in the lot was the Kaymak or clotted cheese, that was served with honey. The taste was so different, luscious and enticing. Furthermore, the eggplant jam turned out to be a great surprise. This grand Turkish breakfast was indeed a feast to remember.

In the evening we headed to Wakha restaurant. It is one of Sachin's favourite restaurants in Dubai for lamb dishes. They serve Shinwari cuisine which is from the Pakistan and Afghanistan border region. Lamb meat cuts was hung near the kitchen for us to choose and pick for our dishes. The genial owner gave a tour of the kitchen and showed us the preparation of lamb karahi that included just 4 ingredients- dumba lamb meat, tomatoes, oil and green chillies. The wok used for making this is a special one from Peshawar hence the dish name is lamb karahi. The fine quality meat is mostly sourced from South Africa and is the key ingredient in most of the dishes.

We ordered lamb chops, Shinwari lamb karahi, larlayee karahi and roti. All of these dishes contained just 2 to 4 ingredients yet the taste was phenomenal. Dumba lamb meat has a greater fat content which makes it so tasty. We loved both the tomato based lamb karahi and olive oil and onion based larlayee karahi. Lamb chops prepared with just salt had a robust, smoky and meaty taste. Wakha is truly a must visit place in Dubai for lamb meat lovers.
