Bringing Up Children in Times of Protests

The NCPCR has taken note of a complaint (from an undisclosed person), which alleges that children at Shaheen Bagh are being ‘misled’ and ‘undergoing trauma’ caused by the fear that they may be asked to prove their citizenship. The NCPCR in its wisdom has directed the District Magistrate to appoint a protection officer, to identify ‘traumatized children’ and to counsel them against these ‘unfounded fears’.

This Panel Discussion aims to understand the motivation of both parents and children in participating in the protests, the sources of possible trauma and the manner in which volunteers on site are engaging with the children, and the legal contours of parenting and children’s rights.
