How to setup email in Microsoft outlook on a computer video by supercoolclues.
In this video I will show you how to setup Microsoft outlook on a computer especially a Windows laptop and a Windows Desktop computer sometimes called a PC.
Once setup, you can use outlook to send and receive emails and manage emails generally even when you don’t have Microsoft Exchange. In addition to email management, MS outlook can do a lot of other things.
To setup outlook, you need to have 4 critical pieces of information:-
Email address
Email password
Incoming mail server
Out going mail server.
To setup out look, look for outlook app on your computer. If you can’t see it, use the Windows search function near the start button on the bottom left corner of the desktop. Type outlook and when outlook app comes up whatever version 2016, 2019 and even 2007, just click on it.
Wait for some seconds, soon it will popup a small blue screen telling you that it is loading profile and other things. Be patient and watch.
A welcome to Outlook screen will come up, read its contents and the click on Next.
The Add email account will show up asking you to connect to an email account, make sure ‘Yes’ is selected and then click Next.
Another screen will appear with Auto account setup, select manual setup on this screen and click next. (Yes Manual setup).
The choose service screen will appear. Unless you are sure that you are using Microsoft Exchange or outlook.com, it is recommended that you select the POP/IMAP option and then click next.

You will get the POP and IMAP account settings screen.
Enter your name as will appear to your correspondents. Enter your email address as given to you by your IT people.
Select account type POP3 or IMAP, POP3 more common.
Enter incoming mail server and outgoing mail server as advised by your it people. It is most often mail.domain for both of them.
Make sure that the username is exactly the same as your email address.
Enter your password as given to you by your IT people. Make sure remember password is selected (unless you want to enter a password every time you send or receive email).
The rest leave them as they are, click on More Settings.
A small screen named Internet E-mail settings will popup.
Leave the General tab with no change, click on the outgoing server tab. Ensure that My outgoing server requires Authentication is enabled and Same as incoming server is also enabled. Click on Advanced tab.
Unless you have additional information, leave most of these options as they are. The outgoing server port may have to be changed from 25 to 26. If not sure ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP). It is advised that you enable ‘Remove from server when deleted from deleted items’.
Click okay.
The setup is almost complete. You need to ensure everything is accurate. Click on Test Account Settings so the system can validate the information. You need to be sure that you have internet connected at this stage.
The system will do tasks namely logon to incoming server and send a test email. A green tick against a task indicates passed, and a red x indicates failed. If failed, check that all the information entered is very correct and internet is available. You may have to redo everything afresh.
If everything has passed, click close. Click next, the test tasks will be carried out again. If passed click close. A final screen saying all is set to setup the email pops up. It says you can add another account which you can do later.
Click Finish.

Outlook will popup the blue screen as it sets up your account and when done it will show the normal outlook user interface with all the necessary folders, incoming, sent and more and from here you can send and receive emails. Give it some extra few seconds as it finalizes the setup. It may receive some emails if you have some pending incoming emails.
You can close outlook.
At this stage it is advised that the outlook app be pinned to the task bar for ease access.
Search outlook, right click on outlook app and select pin to task bar. The outlook bar will be visible on the task bar and hence force you will use it to start outlook. Simply click on the Outlook icon on the taskbar and the outlook user interface will open up.
Congratulations. You have completed setting up outlook and can continue using it to send and receive emails and do a lot more.
