1993 Marcos Mantara Coupe - For Sale with Adam Sykes & Co.

Описание к видео 1993 Marcos Mantara Coupe - For Sale with Adam Sykes & Co.

The Mantara was a significant car for Marcos because it was only offered factory built, rather than in component form. It was sold through a small network of dealers and offered in Spyder or Coupe form with a choice of Rover V8 engines, a 3.9 litre in varying states of tune or a JE Engineering 4.5 litre producing approximately 300 bhp.

A total of 137 Mantaras were produced at the factory in Westbury from 1992 to 1998, and the name was subsequently used in the homologation of its Le Mans GT race car, the Marcos Mantara LM600. Of the 137 road cars produced only a handful were Coupes, which makes this a very rare car indeed, with an interesting history…

First registered on 6th January 1993, K701 NAE was supplied to Ron Hall, the MD of JE Engineering. It was fitted with a 4.5 litre JE engine and used to demonstrate the serious potential of this combination. Featuring on the cover and in a five-page test in Top Car magazine, the car is also the cover image for David Barber’s history of the marque.

A new 3.9 litre engine was fitted shortly before the second (and current) owner bought the car on 29th July 1994, at which stage it had covered 6,943 miles. Extensive history files demonstrate the care and attention the Marcos has received throughout its lifetime, including lengthy correspondence with the Marcos factory and a major restoration by Trevor Farrington Ltd in 2014 (less than 600 miles ago). In total more than £60,000 has been spent on the car by the current owner, and it has travelled only 30,500 miles from new.

Fabulous to drive and immaculate throughout this represents an almost unique opportunity to buy a very rare and collectable Marcos.
