Reasons of Flowers Shedding in Cotton Crop:

There are several reasons or causes of flowers shedding in cotton crop. Some are:
1) Nutrients deficiency such as Nitrogen deficiency in cotton crop, Phosphorus deficiency in cotton crop, Potassium deficiency in cotton crop, Boron deficiency in cotton crop, Zinc or other micronutrients deficiency in cotton crop. Healthy diet or balance fertilizers in cotton crop can initiate healthy fruitings and flowerings.
2) Rains - Heavy rains cause shedding of flowers and fruits
3) High temperature - Plants can not grow at high temperatures. although cotton is a crop of tropicals area but temperature higher than 45 degree stop all activities in plants and ultimately plants shed their flowers and fruits.
4) Insects pests attack - Attack of whitefly, thrips or jassids create pressure on plants and plants go to shedding of flowers and fruits
5) Low light intensity - Photosynthesis in plants need light for its food making process. if light is low or not available, plants can not synthesize their food.
6) Drought - Low or no irrigation water leads to flowers shedding in cotton crop
