Marion Island, one of the two Prince Edward Islands (Marion Island and Prince Edward Island) in the Sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean, lies at 46°S and 37°E, roughly 2160 km southeast of Cape Town, South Africa.
These two islands form part of South Africa and the only human inhabitants of the islands are the staff of a meteorological and biological research station run by the South African National Antarctic Program on Marion Island.
