At 87 years old, legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott remains one of the most creative forces in modern cinema. Known for iconic films like Gladiator, Alien, Blade Runner, and Prometheus, Scott continues to surprise audiences with his bold storytelling and breathtaking visuals.

In 2024, Scott’s latest film, Gladiator II, starring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington, became a massive box office hit. The sequel impressed both longtime fans and new viewers, once again proving Scott’s enduring talent.

Despite decades of success and a filmography that spans multiple genres—science fiction, historical epic, war drama, and thriller—Ridley Scott says he still has a few creative goals left to accomplish. In a recent interview with Collider, the legendary director revealed that he dreams of making a Western, a musical, and a pirate movie.

“If they’re good enough, and you know it’s not the moment because everyone’s afraid of it, you keep it sitting, waiting, and then come back,” Scott explained.

He went on to reveal that he already owns a script for what he calls “the best Western I’ve ever read.” The screenplay, discovered among the works of a deceased author’s estate, is ready to go when the timing feels right.
