After Scar defeated Mufasa and approached Simba, Scar let his opportunity to free himself of all heirs to the throne run away even though Simba was within his grasp. Eventually the inability to stop Simba that day resulted in Simba escaping the Pride Lands, growing into adulthood and eventually returning to Pride Rock to take back his rightful place as king. So how could Scar let this happen? Was this decision to trust his reign as king within the paws of hyenas idiotic? Was Scar’s arrogance over his ability to destroy Mufasa what undid him? Or was Scar’s restraint a tactical move?
