In Episode 67, Sofia interviews Riley Bowman, a lifelong student of the pistol and a seasoned expert in the world of competitive shooting and self-defense.

Riley's journey into the realm of firearms began at the age of 21 when he purchased his first handgun and obtained his CCW permit. However, he quickly realized that carrying a pistol for defense was much more than simply strapping on a gun. This realization fueled Riley's passion for continuous learning and training.

Inspired by the opportunity to become an instructor for the law enforcement agency where he spent eight years, Riley delved deeper into the world of firearms education. He discovered a love for teaching others how to excel at shooting, emphasizing the development of skills that can make a critical difference in life-and-death situations.

In 2016, Riley took a bold step into competitive shooting by participating in The American Marksman, a national competition for amateur shooters. Surprising himself, he clinched the Rocky Mountain Regional Championship, earning a spot in the National Finals where he finished an impressive 10th.

Since then, Riley has focused on mastering the handgun and actively competes in USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association), currently holding the title of Master Class Carry Optics shooter with aspirations of achieving Grand Master classification. His recent accomplishments include being the 2022 Carry Optics Division Colorado State Champion, securing 3rd place in the Master class at the 2022 USPSA Carry Optics National Championship, and narrowly missing the top-16 but finishing a commendable 18th overall at the 2022 USPSA Production National Championship.
