Revisiting Constitution : Need of the Indian Democracy | Justice A K Patnaik |

Indian Penal Code as well as Indian Constitution were based on British thought pattern and society. Over the years Supreme Court has expanded the Aricle 21 and incorporated many required fields and continues to evolve as per situations. But certain Laws should be made for smooth functioning of Indian Democracy. Speaking in a seminar on 'Revisiting the Constitution' held at the Constitution Club Hon'ble Justice A K Patnaik insists on certain amedments that are required to be made in our present constitution.

About the speaker:
As an advocate, Justice A K Patnaik has specialized in commercial law and constitutional law.
He became Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on 14 March 2005. Later that year he became Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh, serving there for four years. During his tenure as the Chief Justice of both these states he was known for his bold judgements and was seen to be a judge who was pro poor and strongly supported the underprivileged classes.
On 17 November 2009, he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of India which he served till his retirement on 2 June 2014.
