MetroTV, Hundreds of people joined the ‘No Tyrants’ rally against US President Donald Trump in Madrid on Saturday.

Footage shows protesters chanting ‘This is what democracy looks like’ at the central square of Puerta del Sol. Many of them hold anti-Trump signs with messages such as ‘Foreigners against Trump’ and ‘Defend democracy’.

“We are just trying to represent all Americans and all those who are against dictatorship, who do not accept dictatorship, who believe that the United States is a democratic country, and we think that everyone can see that we are not accepting Trump and all his followers taking power,” one of the protesters commented.

“In Europe, perhaps people don't realise the seriousness of the situation in the United States,” another protester said. “Europeans must also stand in defence of democracy, because in the United States we are already in danger of losing those rights."

The protest is reportedly a part of the broader ‘No Dictators or No Tyrants’ rally, while on the same day ‘No Kings’ protests were held nationwide across the US and in several European cities, including Berlin and Amsterdam.

Last June, ‘No Kings’ Day demos swept across the US following unrest in Los Angeles, as protesters denounced immigration raids as part of Trump’s crackdown.
