In this world of instant gratification, we covet the success of those who have “made it” not realizing the amount of work that has been put in to hone their craft. We then view our feeble attempts in comparison and feel discouraged when our own accomplishments dwarf those who paved the path before us.

In reality, there is no shortcut. You can be smarter and wiser in your journey of gaining skills and working towards a goal, but ultimately it requires the patience and determination of taking one step at a time. There is no elevator.

Don’t value yourself by comparing yourself to others. They may be on their 10th year on their journey while you are on your 10th day. Instead, look at each step you need to take and measure your success in your own path upwards.
