Since 2018, fourteen councils in England have effectively declared bankruptcy. Birmingham. Nottingham. Woking. Thurrock. Croydon — twice. And the Local Government Association estimates that almost one in five councils is now at risk of issuing a Section 114 notice.

Libraries are closing. Youth centres are shutting. Parks are neglected. Roads are crumbling. And the services you rely on are being stripped back to the legal minimum.
