Eight-year-old Jacob Varley-Issitt saved his mum’s life, when she collapsed from septic shock at their home in Loughborough. Despite having ADHD and usually struggling to concentrate, he stayed calm, called the ambulance and led paramedics into their home once they arrived. To celebrate his bravery, Jacob was selected to turn the Loughborough Christmas lights this year. He joins us alongside his proud mum, Hollie Varley, who describes her son as her hero, and Dr Nighat Arif.
