তিন মুঠো খুদের বিনিময়ে ছোটবেলায় যে ছেলেটিকে বিক্রি করে দেওয়া হয়েছিল, সে ছেলেটাই আঠেরো বছর বয়সে ভারতের বন্ধনমুক্তির শিখা জ্বালিয়েছিল নিজের হাতে। তবে এ গান বিপ্লব, যুদ্ধ কিংবা আন্দোলনের নয়। এই গান এক নাবালক কিশোরের তার মায়ের কাছ থেকে বিদায় চাওয়ার গল্প। যে জননীর গর্ভের আঁধার চিরে প্রথম পৃথিবীর আলো দেখেছিল সে, আজ সমস্ত আলো নিভে যাওয়ার সময় সেই জননীর মুখের দিকে চেয়েই হাসতে হাসতে ফাঁসির দড়ি গলায় পরবে সে। তবে সেখানেই তো শেষ নয়, যে শিখা সে জ্বালিয়ে যাচ্ছে তা ছড়িয়ে পড়বে বাংলার ঘরে ঘরে। সেভাবেই বারবার মায়ের কোলে ফিরে আসবে সে। ক্ষুদিরাম বোস এক অনির্বাণ শিখার নাম…

This song was composed in honour of Khudiram Bose.
This song is still very popular in West Bengal (India), Khudiram Bose is highly revered as a hero in India particularly West Bengal.
