Speed limit in Oregon for trucks is 55 mph. I followed this set of triples on the flats, at 65 steady for several miles, and then down Emigrant Hill - ( Cabbage Hill ) at varying speeds anywhere between 60 and sometimes up to 70mph. The suggested speed for trucks weighing 75,000 - 80,000 lbs is 18 mph. The driver did not swerve or make any sudden moves, however as a 2 million mile / 32 year veteran driver, I will tell you, this is UNSAFE ! If I wanted to be nasty, I could post the tractor number, I simply think management ...perhaps even CEO Fred Smith, should be aware that no other trucking companies run this fast, and it is my opinion that the "push - push " mentality is putting the motoring public at risk.
