With 4.8 million sq/ft of buildings under roof, the “Janesville Assembly Plant” was once the largest General Motors automotive plant in the world.

In December 2017, Commercial Development Company, Inc. (CDC) purchased the historic “Janesville Assembly Plant” from General Motors. As part of the transaction, Environmental Liability Transfer, Inc. (ELT) agreed to assume the environmental liabilities associated with the site and its former operators.

CDC plans to invest significant resources to reposition the 250-acre industrial property for new utilization. Preliminary activity is expected to include asbestos abatement, demolition of some or all facilities, environmental remediation, and extensive redevelopment planning.

Located on 250+/- contiguous acres, CDC believes the GM Janesville site represents a strategic opportunity for new manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics-related development activity. Throughout the reclamation process, CDC will be engaged in a global marketing campaign to find appropriate end users for this location.
