As new ketone products come to market, many will simply compare BHB levels to one another to determine which is best or most cost effective.

Meanwhile, C8 MCT oil has been a cheap way to raise blood ketone levels for many years before the ketone monoester arrived.

Here Dr Veech in 2015 explains why C8 isn't as effective as the ketone ester. I lay person terms it is because of the portion of the C8 that doesn't turn into ketones, blocks the effectiveness of the ketones themselves. But he explains it in a more scientific way.

So 1mm of C8 isn't the same as 1mm of Ketone Ester.
Therefore 1mm of another product can't be assumed to be the same level of effectiveness as a ketone ester. Companies that claim "look ketones work" are hijacking the science of ketone ester and hoping the customer won't realize the trial they cite is a different molecule.
