Home to just around 400 residents and barely 1.2 square miles in size,
Tangier feels frozen in time.
The locals speak a rare dialect
that linguists believe dates back to the very first English settlers.
Some even say it sounds like pirates.
To reach it, you need a ferry or a tiny plane.
There are no cars here, only golf carts,
crab boats, and narrow,
sandy lanes. But there's one major problem.
Tangier is disappearing. Rising sea levels and constant erosion
are slowly swallowing the island.
And experts warn it could completely vanish by 2,050.
Still, life carries on.
Families fish and crab just like their ancestors did.
