Pathway to Permanent Residency through studying Carpentry

Описание к видео Pathway to Permanent Residency through studying Carpentry

This is the story of how Will created his Pathway to Permanent Residency through studying Carpentry.

Part 1: Study a Course that is in Demand
Part 2: Apply for a Temporary Graduate Work Visa (Subclass 485)
Part 3: Apply for a Skilled Visa

After finishing high school, Will had been working as a labourer, but did not have the skills or education necessary to apply for a skilled visa. This led Will to consider studying a course in Australian to gain the skills and education needed.

Part 1: Study a Course that is in Demand

Will decided to enroll to study Carpentry on a student visa with the assistance of Pathway to Aus. Carpentry is currently on the Australian Immigration Medium to Long Term Strategic Skill List. This means that it is an in demand occupation in Australia.

He studied the course for 2 years and throughout the course Will did 360 hours of vocational placement.

Part 2: Obtain a Temporary Graduate Work Visa (Subclass 485)

After graduating, Pathway to Aus assisted Will to apply for a Temporary Graduate Work Visa (Subclass 485). This is an open work visa that had a duration of 18 months.

On the Temporary Graduate Work Visa, Will needed to work for a carpenter for 1725 hours in order to pass the Job Ready Program and obtain a full skill assessment.

Part 3: Apply for a Skilled Visa

Once Will completed the Job Ready Program and obtained a skill assessment as a carpenter, he came back to Pathway to Aus and we assessed his visa options.

Will had the following points for General Skilled Migration:

Age – 30 points (Will was 30 years)
Education – 10 points (Cert III in Carpentry through study in Australia)
English Ability – 0 points (Will has a UK passport, but did not pass an English test)
Study in Australia – 5 points (For the 2 years that Will studied in Australia)
Work in Australia– 5 points (For the 1 year of work experience)
Single Relationship Status – 10 points

Will had a total of 60 points. As he will was living and working in a regional area (The Gold Coast), we applied for Regional Nomination from QLD Migration and received an additional 15 points.

This led Will to receive a total of 75 points, which is above the required 65 points to lodge an expression of interest.

Once we lodged the Expression of Interest, Will was then invited by QLD Migration to apply for the Skilled Regional Visa – Subclass 491.

Will originally did not have a pathway to migrate to Australia. However, through studying in Australia, he gained the skills and experience necessary in an occupation that is in demand. This allows him to apply for a skilled visa to Australia. He is now set up on the Gold Coast and plans to live here for the rest of his life.
