Trichoderma, when it is applied to seeds is quiescent - so it remains on the seeds as long as the seeds are dry. But once the seeds are moistened, then Trichoderma begins to grow and it immediately colonizes the root. Once it colonizes the root, it establishes a relationship with the plant. And the good strains , that we have, continue to grow onto the root and ( with the root ) provide benefits for the life of the crop ( at least for annual crops ) .


Trichoderma doesn't change the genetic composition of the plant-- and the plant still has the same genes it always had. But it triggers the genes that it does have to work more efficiently - so that we get a lot of benefits that people are also trying to accomplish through plant engineering and breeding but we don't have to change the plant at all. So it works across plants of all sorts.
