Continuous rainfall and rising river levels have triggered severe flooding in parts of Punjab, with water entering residential areas and even places of worship. In Phillaur, Jalandhar, the famous Sri Shani Temple, of Shanigaon, a center of faith for thousands of devotees, has been inundated with 2–3 feet of floodwater from the overflowing Sutlej river. Meanwhile, in Bagowal village of Kapurthala, water from the Beas river has entered homes, forcing residents to rely on boats for survival.

Visuals from both locations show the extent of the devastation. In Phillaur, waterlogging inside the temple complex has raised concerns among devotees, as the water level continues to rise.

According to officials, water released late last night from Ropar Headworks reached Phillaur today, further raising the water level around the Shani Temple and nearby areas. Crops have also been destroyed in large parts of the region.
