VERSE
And my heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue. Psalm 39:3
EXPLANATION
Blessed be the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The word of God reveals that true spiritual warmth does not come from noise, activity, or outward religion. It comes when we sit quietly in the presence of the Lord and meditate on Him. As written in Psalm 39:3, when the psalmist meditated, the fire burned within his heart.
Reading the Scriptures is precious in the sight of God. Yet beyond reading, there is something deeper. It is to sit before Him, think upon His greatness, and allow His Spirit to stir our hearts. The Bible says, Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Psalm 105:2,3. Meditation brings rejoicing. It awakens the heart to the wonders of God.
Many live as nominal Christians without giving time to seek His presence. But the one who fears God and deliberately sets apart time to meditate on Him will experience a life filled with divine power, holy fire, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself was filled without measure. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. John 3:34. When we follow His example of communion with the Father, our lives also begin to reflect His glory.
There were young women who decided to seek the Lord wholeheartedly. Though their family opposed them, they did not turn back. Instead, they pressed on in prayer and meditation. In time, the presence of God filled their lives so abundantly that even those who resisted them began to see the blessing of the Lord upon them. When the fire of God rests upon a life, opposition cannot stop the purpose of God.
Beloved, do you long for such a life of fire? Meditation is not empty thinking. It is fixing your thoughts on the cross of Christ. When you meditate on the crucified Saviour, your heart is warmed by His love. You begin to understand the depth of His sacrifice. Sin loses its grip. Gratitude rises. Strength flows.
The psalmist declared, But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:2. Continuous meditation produces stability, joy, and spiritual growth. Again it is written, My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord. Psalm 104:34. True meditation leads to joy that is deep and lasting.
Morning is a precious time to set the Lord first. Midday is a time to remember Him even in work. Evening is a time to withdraw quietly and reflect on His goodness. Even in the night watches, meditation strengthens the soul. When you consistently think upon His promises, His names, His miracles, and His love shown at Calvary, a holy warmth fills your spirit.
PRAYER
Dear Lord,
You have given me life and countless blessings. Yet I desire more of Your holy fire within my heart. Teach me to sit quietly in Your presence and meditate on Your word. Let my empty places be filled with Your Spirit. Warm my heart with Your love. Help me to live a life that draws many to You. Strengthen me to pray earnestly and to seek You daily. I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
