This event is called "Semana Santa" (Holy Week), people in Malaga, commemorate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. It takes place in March/April every year and begins on Palm Sunday and ends on Resurrection Sunday.
In Malaga the "Cofradías" (brotherhoods) take to the streets the "Tronos" (floats) which are carried by the "Hombres de Trono" in procession.
Also in processions the "cofrades" and "devotos" who wear the penitencial clothes are the "Nazarenos".
This tradition originated in the 16th century.

The week consists of processions in which huge floats of religious statues which we called pasos are carried on the shoulders of the team costaleros around the streets of Seville and there are 30 to 40 of them depends on the brotherhood. They are under the Paso and they don’t have outside vision and they are guided by what we called the Capataz who is in charge of giving instructions to them when they should carry the paso, walk or rest.
