The Makings of the Best Catholic Bible in Print!

Описание к видео The Makings of the Best Catholic Bible in Print!

Four volumes down and three to go! The Word on Fire Bible (NRSV-CE), Volume 4, The Promised Land is ready to roll. They just seem to never miss.
It is truly hard to describe all the senses that start firing when you flip the pages of this beautiful bible. The pebble top grain leather and spine hubs are so very well done, and something you don’t often see on a Catholic Bible, whose audience has been long clamoring a premium bible. This one isn’t quite on a premium level, but neither is the price. However, is this a step in that direction?

Consistent with every Catholic publisher I have ever worked with, they got the gilding so right. On point like a mirror. The gold stamped artwork and print on the spine is so nice as well. You can tell they really worked hard to make every aspect of this Bible beautiful. The synthetic liner lets me know this bible was built to last, but I am not sure if there is any reinforcement tape to secure the block to the cover. If it doesn’t that could cause some separation over time.

Why is it so thick when it only covers Judges-2 Kings? That is because of the Italian paper . It is really thick (probably 80gsm+/- a little) and is very opaque . 85 also has a coating so there is virtually no ghosting. The custom Angelo 9pt font is DARK. It is a single column layout in paragraph layout and the leading space is next level. It is so well spaced. Another reason the Bible is so thick is because of all the artwork, articles, commentary, and features the Bible offers.

The commentary layout takes a bit to get used to, but it features voices from the last 2,000 years of church history (ancient and modern) and includes special commentary from Bishop Robert Barron. Ancient voices are in cream color boxes, more modern voices are in gray boxes, while Bishop Barron’s commentary is set in double column, and his sermons are in single column on gray pages. Again, it takes getting used to for those familiar with traditional study bible layouts, but once it clicks, it is truly genius.

It also features book introductions and stunning full color artwork. It’s simply too much to share in picture, writing, or video. It is like a full sensory explosion (minus taste, ha ha) You simply need to see it for yourself. To call it a Cathedral in print is truly an honest description. Keep in mind they also have paperback and hardcover available for a more economical price.
