Lauriann has been a leading writer, speaker and researcher on injury prevention for manual therapists since 1995. She studied at Brown University, Harvard University and the Mannes College of Music before graduating with honors in 1993 from Seattle Massage School. As a result of extensive research on occupational musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and her own experience with work-related injury, Lauriann developed the Save Your Hands!® Injury Prevention Workshops for massage therapists, which she presented to hundreds of students and professionals across the United States and Canada. In 1995, she wrote the 1st Edition of Save Your Hands!, the first comprehensive book on injury prevention ever published for manual therapists.

Since that time, Lauriann has written numerous articles for major publications including Massage Therapy Journal, Massage Magazine, Massage & Bodywork, and Positive Health. She also wrote a regular column in Massage Magazine called "Helping the Healers." In 2005, Lauriann joined forces with professional ergonomist and massage therapist Richard W. Goggins on a survey that produced the first reliable statistics on the prevalence of injury among massage therapists and bodyworkers, the results of which were publish in 2006 in Massage & Bodywork. Lauriann is now a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist, and continues to collaborate with Richard to offer a range of injury prevention and ergonomics consulting and educational services to manual therapists.

Lauriann and Richard are frequently featured in spa and manual therapy magazines like PULSE, Spa Management Journal and Massage & Bodywork. They speak regularly at massage and spa conferences, and their webinars appear on Universal Companies' Advance With Education web site. They are also contributors to the book Foundations of Massage 3rd Edition (Elsevier).
