Thanks for watching Garry Teaches Maths. Here we continue to go through the Edexcel June 2018 Maths GCSE Higher Tier Paper 2. This is question 21 and is a question about finding the upper and lower bounds. Here, we are told we have a block of wood, and given the measurements of length, width, height, and mass, we are asked to find the density to a suitable degree of accuracy. To do this we need to work out the upper and lower bounds of the volume and mass, in order to work out the upper and lower bounds of the density. Once we have these values, we can compare them, and we only give a degree of accuracy for which the upper and lower bounds agree with each other.
