God doesn't change, but our actions sometimes make us want to hide from Him. In the Gospel, God looks past our self-imposed separation and takes it away through Jesus.

Genesis 3:8-9 (NIV)
Then the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking in the garden. It was the coolest time of the day. They hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
But the Lord God called out to the man. "Where are you?" he asked.
"I heard you in the garden," the man answered. "I was afraid. I was naked, so I hid."

Isaiah 59:1-2 (NIV Readers Version)
People of Israel, the Lord's arm is not too weak to save you.
His ears aren't too deaf to hear your cry for help.
But your sins have separated you from your God.
They have caused him to turn his face away from you.
So he won't listen to you.

Romans 5:8 (NIV)
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
