Frozen Dartmoor | Winter wild camping at Fordsland Ledge

With the weather forecast for sub-zero winter night with strong winds and a windchill at -10c we head to Dartmoor with our full winter gear. Starting at Meldon we hike over the dam and around the reservoir and then up through West Okement Valley to filter and fill up our water bottles then climb up the valley to Black Tor and over to Fordsland Ledge.
We setup the Hilleberg Soulo's quickly as snow starts falling and black clouds on the horizon.
We wake up to sub-zero temperatures and the Hilleberg Soulo covered in thick ice inside and out and Dartmoor in thick fog.
We pack up in the freezing wind and head down to Sandy Ford and back along the West Okement River through the always lovely Black-a-Tor copse and back to the reservoir.
