Paragliding Morocco 2023 - Experiences & Site Guide

In this video we want to share our experience of paragliding in Morocco. We spent 12 days in Morocco in the beginning of March 2023.

Aylal Guest house: next to the landing field
get there: by car or shuttle (50 dirham) and short hike to the takeoff (15min)
launch area: easy, concrete, drinks and snacks available, 20 dirham takeoff fee
landing area: large field with some rocks and bushes
flying: thermals, evening soaring
attention: a lot of power lines, spiky bushes at the landing field
highlights: flying to magic mountain, toplanding, evening soaring
Aglou beach:

get there: reachable by car (also without 4x4)
launch area: sandy area on top of a steep cliff line
landing area: easy toplanding, landing down at the beach mostly possible but not a lot of space between see and cliff
flying: soaring and ground handling
attention: can get quite crowded
highlights: soaring for hours, ground handling and fooling around in the sand
Legzira:

get there: easily reachable by car (toplanding possible, alternatively hike back up)
launch area: rocky but quite easy takeoff in the hills
landing area: landing possibilities next to the street going up or down at Legzira beach
flying: narrow soaring area; with thermals it is possible to fly to the hills nearby; soaring at Legzira arch if you are lucky
attention: quite crowded when soaring near the takeoff with many pilots
highlights: soaring the arch of Legzira, landing at the beach
Nid d'aigle:

paragliding accommodation: Nid d'aigle parapente right at the takeoff with infinity pool; costs 600 dirham per person per night, including breakfast and dinner
get there: by car
launch area: large concrete takeoff, 20 dirham takeoff fee
landing area: quite easy toplanding, landing field right next to the street going up
flying: easy soaring or flying all the way to Aglou mountain
attention: wind can get quite strong and a little gusty when coming from north
highlights: flying to Aglou mountain and back, (attempted) foot drag in the infinity pool

get there: easily reachable by car over a narrow road going all the way over the mountain pass
launch area: steep and rocky takeoff
landing area: possibility to land next to the guest house on the street; a lot of people on XCTrack landed next to the street going up (https://goo.gl/maps/PnfRGFhg7aoyzy7aA), landing in some of the valleys might be quite tricky
flying: great XC possibilities! strong thermals
attention: north wind might take over in the afternoon; tricky landings in some of the remote valleys

get there: 40 minutes drive south east of Marrakesh; hike to the takeoff (approx. 30-45 min)
launch area: rocky takeoff area, can get quite tricky with northerly wind
landing area: rocky landing field right next to the guest house
flying: 8km soaring ridge! soaring till sunset
attention: air space of Marrakesh starting at the northern edge of the ridge, if the wind starts to pick up you can see the fog/dust in the distance getting closer, in the heat of the day you can see some dust devils - watch out and wait for temperatures to cool down!
highlights: soaring till sunset with a view over the snow capped atlas mountains, castle ruins and the city of Marrakesh in the distance.
