A Nashville-based technology executive is spearheading a national initiative to enhance school safety by offering AI-powered firearm detection software to every K–12 school in the United States at no cost.

Steve Reinharz, founder and CEO of Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions and Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), recently introduced Bailey’s Promise, a program named in memory of Bailey Holt, a 15-year-old student who was tragically killed in the 2018 shooting at Marshall County High School in Kentucky.

The software, which integrates with existing security camera systems, is designed for rapid deployment without requiring new hardware. Reinharz, who also serves as RAD’s chief technology officer, emphasized the initiative's goal to make proactive safety tools more accessible to school systems nationwide.

Bailey’s mother, Secret Holt, has publicly endorsed the initiative and joined Reinharz in urging school officials to adopt the technology.

Bailey’s Promise was developed in collaboration with the Holt family and RAD’s executive team, reflecting a shared commitment to preventing future tragedies in schools.

"We want to make sure that no other family has to go through what we went through," she said.

Although RAD is headquartered in Michigan, Reinharz now resides in Nashville and is calling on school leaders across the country, including those in Tennessee, to swiftly implement available safety solutions.


Reinharz has been a long-time advocate for AI-driven security systems and has led the development of technologies aimed at enhancing safety in both public and private sectors.
