The Wisdom Exchange Mentorship Program (WEMP), part of the broader Global Intergenerational Mentorship Initiative, was designed and developed by Henry M. Yim, a student at Novi High School, Michigan, USA. As the founder of the WISDOM EXCHANGE CLUB (WEC), Henry recognized the challenges faced by both senior citizens and high school students—particularly the isolation among the elderly and the emotional and career uncertainties of youth, exacerbated by the pandemic. In response, he launched WEMP to bridge the generational gap and foster meaningful connections between these two groups.

🌟Collaborating closely with the Novi City Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, Michigan House of Representatives, City Council members, and senior living leaders, Henry helped create a platform for sharing wisdom and fostering intergenerational growth. Weekly meetings at Fox Run Belmont Center, Novi’s largest senior living community, provide a space for seniors to mentor students, offering life lessons and guidance, while students gain valuable insights and support.

Through WEMP, seniors find renewed purpose in mentorship, and students benefit from the wisdom of older generations, helping them navigate personal and career challenges. The program highlights the importance of empathy, community engagement, and collective wisdom, serving as a cornerstone of Henry’s community-building efforts. His leadership in the Global Intergenerational Mentorship Program and the Wisdom Exchange Club reflects his dedication to creating meaningful, lasting connections between generations.
