Roses can be a fun and rewarding plant to grow once you get it down. The issues that may arise can be easily prevented in most cases. First thing to consider when planting your roses is location. Here's a list of things you can do to improve your success.

1) Plant your roses in full sun whenever possible.
2) Preform regular and yearly maintenance pruning that allows for adequate air flow and a robust structure throughout the plant.
3) Use an organic fungicide spray such as copper fungicide when new growth emerges in the spring, after heavy pruning and as fungal problems arise.
4) Remove any visible signs of disease early on to get the upper hand on the problem.
5) Provide your roses with plenty of water and water at the base of the plant. Avoid using sprinklers.
6) Fertilize your roses using liquid and/or granular fertilizer early in the growing season and again during blooming cycles.
