I will allow John to introduce himself... I’m John Roff, a qualified and registered provincial specialist Nature Guide, based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Since 1989 I’ve been helping people experience, learn about and enjoy the wonder and beauty of the natural world.

Growing up exploring and learning outdoors in rural Zimbabwe led to a life-long fascination with nature, and a career in nature guiding and environmental education. I have been privileged to share hundreds of Southern African places with thousands of people.

My interests and passions include poetry, wilderness, Christian spirituality, education, research, ecology, spiders (I've discovered 2 new species), insects, orchids, bushveld, trees, forests, and geology. Some hobbies are jewelry-making, making and playing various musical instruments, creative writing, and taking the time to enjoy good tea and coffee. I enjoy handcrafts of various kinds and offer a knife sharpening service.
