"The Other Self - The Melee Which PewFat Plays." | A PewFat Team Combo/Highlight Video

Описание к видео "The Other Self - The Melee Which PewFat Plays." | A PewFat Team Combo/Highlight Video

A Melee video that highlights the way CLG | PewFat (PewPewU & SFAT) play teams.

This is not necessarily a straight up "combo" video per se, but I just labeled it loosely that way since it's more traditional. There's actually quite a bit of deep meaning in this video under it's extremely cheesy and light-hearted context. I tried to make this video in a way that even if you don't get the references directly, you could still find the overall meaning and sentiment in this video (hence, the use of the instrumental/English versions over the Japanese original). The strength of this video doesn't lie in the editing, but in the meaning behind it.

I chose PewFat over other great teams like Armada+Android or Hungrybox+Plup since they're pretty much the best non-god team and are essentially static teammates for the most part which made finding clips easier. Using a non-God team is a central part of the concept/theme.

I went through most sets (about 60ish) from majors/nationals that took place from Q4 2012-Q1 2016. I gathered a surplus of footage/clips (probably at least about 10+ minutes worth), but there was only so much I could put into the length of this video (Also, some clips were really long and had short sequences of unwanted scuffles in between so they were excluded.) Special thanks to the smash streams and community for making this video possible. (VGBootCamp, showdowngg, ClashTournaments, etc.) Please follow and support the aforementioned streams/channels if you would like to tune into more smash.

The Origin/Meaning of the Title:

In PewPewU's response to someone asking in his AMA profile why he used the "SELF" tag, he said, "I use the SELF tag as a reminder to myself to play for the right reasons. In a tournament environment the only one that you can draw power from is yourSELF. It's important to remember that. Only having one source to draw power from isn't weakening, in fact it should be empowering knowing that all it takes is YOU to win. " Now in regards to teams, the OTHER SELF refers to your teammate which you also have to draw power from to win. Only together can they defeat/overcome the OTHER SELF's (each other's) weakness as a whole. The Other Self is also the name of the song used in the main video (instrumental) and the ending credits (English cover).

In regards to the second part of the title (The Melee Which PewFat Plays), Melee is a very expressive game and there are so many ways you can go about playing it. PewFat is one of the leading teams that have made their mark in the realm of Melee doubles and have molded many to take note in the way they play teams.
