Ypres Rally 2024 Day 2 - Highlights, crash Tom Boonen, mistake Van Parijs

The Ardeca Ypres Rally 2024 is over and after 2 days of flat-out rallying it was Stéphane Lefebvre who came out on top.
Leading the event from the very first special stage, it was a well-deserved crash for the frenchman after rolling out of the rally last year. Behind Lefebvre the treacherous roads of Ypres made a lot of casualties. Jos Verstappen crashed out of the race on saturday's first stage 'Kemmelberg'. Tom Boonen did the same in 'Zillebeke'. We also lost Verschueren (Citroen C3 Rally2), Rouard (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) and Paul Lietaer (Opel Ascona 400). Second place and first Belgian was Maxime Potty in the new Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. Cédric Cherain was third in another Hyundai making it a double podium for the Koreans. Bernd Casier took 4th beating local hero Bjorn Syx (5th) and 11-time winner Freddy Loix (6th). Gilles Pyck took 7th in a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. Freddy's long-time co-driver Frédéric Miclotte got behind the wheel himself and took 8th on his debut. Kris Princen drove his Porsche to 9th overall and first in the RGT class. Pieter-Jan Maeyaert took the honours in the Historic category with a very impressive drive while entertaining the crowds with some big slides. Brasseur (Opel Corsa Rally4) was the fastest FWD car. He won the Rally4 class and Stellantis Cup. Rally 3
honours went to Decoene in their Renault Clio Rally3. In Rally 5 it was another Renault Clio (Martens Thomas) who took the top spot beating Benoit Verlinde by just 0,5 seconds!
